Our Yoga Practices

Samadhi yoga
Samadhi yoga refers to the state of profound, unified consciousness achieved through the practice of yoga and meditation. It is the ultimate goal and final limb of the Ashtanga Yoga system, where the meditator transcends the ordinary mind to experience a state of oneness and pure awareness. This state is characterized by deep absorption, a transcendence of the individual self, and an ultimate experience of blissful liberation and spiritual enlightenment.

Yoga nidra
Yoga nidra is a relaxation practice that by some accounts is as old as the ancient art of yoga and dates back thousands of years. The term yoga nidra comes from Sanskrit origins and means “yogic sleep” or “psychic sleep”, which is an accurate description because it is performed from the corpse pose (shavasana) where practitioners lie down flat on their back.

Dhyana yoga
Dhyana yoga is the seventh limb of yoga and refers to a state of deep, uninterrupted meditation or contemplation. It involves sustained one-pointed focus, a state that is achieved after practicing dharana (concentration) and requires a disciplined mind to remain with a single object without disturbance. The goal is to achieve stillness and awareness, where the mind becomes one with the object of meditation and eventually transcends the constant stream of thoughts.

Dharana Yoga
Dharana is the sixth of the eight limbs of yoga, a practice of one-pointed concentration where the mind is focused on a single object or point of attention. It is a preparatory step for meditation, involving a sustained, active effort to keep the mind from wandering, and can be practiced by focusing on an external object like a candle, an internal object like a mantra or the breath, or a bodily sensation.

Pratyahara Yoga
Pratyahara is the fifth limb of yoga, a Sanskrit term for "withdrawal of the senses," that involves detaching from external stimuli to focus the mind inward. It is a critical step that bridges the external, physical practices of yoga to the internal, mental practices of concentration and meditation. Through pratyahara, you consciously control your sensory organs, allowing you to choose your response to external distractions rather than reacting involuntarily.

Pranayama Yoga
The word “Pranayama” comes from two Sanskrit words: Prāṇa – life force or vital energy (the breath of life) Āyāma – expansion, control, or regulation So, Pranayama means “the control or expansion of the life force through the breath.” It’s not just breathing exercises — it’s the art of regulating and channeling energy (prana) in the body through controlled breathing.

Asana Yoga
The word “Asana” comes from Sanskrit and means “posture” or “seat.” Originally, it referred to a steady and comfortable sitting position for meditation. But today, it also includes the physical postures practiced in yoga for health, balance, and focus.

Niyama Yoga
Niyama is the second limb of Ashtanga Yoga — the Eightfold Path described by Sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. While Yama teaches us how to live in harmony with others (social discipline), Niyama teaches us how to live in harmony with ourselves (personal discipline). It helps build inner strength, purity, and self-awareness, leading to spiritual growth.

Yama Yoga
Yamas create the moral and social foundation for yoga — without them, the higher practices (like meditation or samādhi) lack stability and sincerity.-- Would you like me to explain each Yama in daily life examples or modern contexts (like how they apply to relationships, work, and social media)? That can make them easier to practice.

Astanga Yoga
The ultimate aim is self-realization (kaivalya) — liberation from suffering and realization of the true Self beyond mind and body.-- Would you like me to explain how modern Ashtanga Yoga (the physical practice popularized by Pattabhi Jois) relates to this classical system? It’s quite different but inspired by the same roots.
